26 in 52 of 2004: #1 GAWDS.org

Well we haven't put together the site for it yet, but we have done the first site of the series. We wanted to do something a little more radical, but felt that the organization simply just needed a better looking website. It works really well in Firebird and decently in IE and Opera. Being perfectionists we will get back to it later, but due to time constraints and the fact that we have 25 more sites to go, we had to package it up and ship it out. Expect a writeup later in the week. bmpharmacy.com

Seeing how the site is supposed to show accessibility then maybe using bright orange wasn't the best of decisions, but I like it. Just had to say that to clear up the color issues.

Good job and good timing, looks like the real gawds.org site is going to be holding a redesign contest shortly. Way to be ahead of the pack!

Well thank you very much Jarrod. Please everyone, we encourage constructive criticism. Our work is not perfect so have at it.

Well, I hate to be the guy to bring it up, and I do understand your constraints, but the site doesn't appear to validate against the CynthiaSays or bobby.cast.org (section 508 or WAI AAA) tests...

Visually and semantically the site is great though, very good work and this definately makes me anxious for the next 25.

Time should be no excuse for something like that. Problem fixed. Thanks again Jarrod.

Great looking site, but how come you chose to use large images for the logo and orange box when some text with a sprinkling of CSS would have done the job better?

Posted by: Paul at January 9, 2004 07:42 AM

We used the large images to evoke a sense of power, kind of like playing of the whole GAWDS (gods) theme. Also the large description image was used so right away new people would know what the guild is about. No use having them fumble around trying to see what this is all about. Just make it front and center.

More details later today describing the reasoning behind everything.

Oh and thanks for the words Paul.
